I have decided that each week as I attend church, I will strive to be in tune to the Spirit to not just hear the messages that are given through talks, hymns, sharing time, and the Sunbeam lesson, but to hear a message that is specific to me, and then incorporate that message into my life. I'm going to call this weekly post, "My Focus For The Week".
Last Sunday as we were preparing for the Sacrament, singing Hymn 172, "In Humility Our Savior", the phrase "fill our hearts with sweet forgiving, teach us tolerance and love" especially touched me. I've thought about this all week long and have tried to implement forgiveness, tolerance and love into my life.
i love this idea - what we gain from our worship each week is more up to us than up to those who are presenting or teaching that week. it really dissolves any hopes that the spiritually lazy person can expect to have their lamps filled when they do little to retain what's being shared.
i memorized hymn 172 as one of my knowledge value experiences - the poetry therein is full of teaching moments.
Oh what a world ours would be if our focus could be more on seeing the good in others, developing real tolerance and doing our best to love all those with whom we meet along our various paths. Great post sweetie. Good luck in having a better one in subsequent posts, as this one encompasses all of Christ's gospel.
